Washington’s girls flag football squad showed real grit last night, even in a tough 0–6 home loss to the Jimtown Jimmies. From the opening whistle, the Panthers played with urgency—tight pulls on defense, smart coverage, and a level of composure that kept Jimtown from ever breaking the game open. The lone Jimmies score came on a short-field opportunity, but Washington’s response afterward was the story: disciplined stops, clean flags, and a defense that refused to fold. Offensively, the Panthers moved the ball in flashes—quick outs, steady gains, and a couple of drives that had real momentum—but couldn’t quite find the end zone. Still, the execution and patience showed a team that’s learning how to string plays together and stay dangerous. It wasn’t the result they wanted, but the effort was honest, the energy was real, and the growth is obvious. The Panthers keep building, keep tightening the details, and keep showing they’re right on the edge of breaking through.
